Nutrition in Pregnancy
Awareness of Nutrition is important during pregnancy because it contribute to fetal growth, delivery outcomes, and the survival of the fetus.
Healthy eating in pregnancy:-
It is very important to eat a healthy, balanced diet because the food you take affect the health of the developing fetus, it also influences your baby's health in future.During pregnancy add 1 Bowls of extra Daal and 1 Roti or as advised-by your doctor according to your BMI. A nutritious diet includes:
a. Green Leafy Vegetables
b. Fruits
c. Nuts
d. Fish and Chicken
e. Eggs
f. Milk and milk products like Paneer, Butter Milk
g. More of hydrating drinks like Coconut water, kiwi smoothie.
Diet in the first trimester may be reduced due to Nausea and Vomiting of pregnancy or it may be due to delayed emptying under the effects of progesterone hormones. Diet of first trimester may affect development and differentiation of various organs, whereas diet in Second and Third Trimester is important for overall fetal growth and brain development. Mother is advised not to take any medication over the counter during pregnancy as it may have deleterious effects on the developing fetus.
